Ask about Our Phonics-Based Reading Programs
|
|
| At Autry Learning Center, we approach the child as a whole, working in coordination with homes and schools to help the student become as successful as possible. We work through academics to deal with social skills, self-esteem, and attention problems and have developed a great 6-session study skills class. In addition, we are excited and proud to offer several reading/language programs at our learning center. |

Phonics-Based Reading Programs
Wilson Reading System: The Wilson Reading Program is used in private and public schools, as well as dyslexia clinics, literacy programs, and L.D. college programs. The program: • Runs parallel to the Orton-Gillingham method. • Teaches strategies for decoding and spelling using total word structure, as well as phonemic and syllabic segmentation. • Teaches concepts with Visual-Auditory-Kinesthetic/Tactile methodology. • Presents the structure of the English language in a logical sequence through repetition of past and present concepts.

Benchmark Decoding Program: An effective phonics-based reading program, this service is based on years of research that teaches strategies for word identification and vocabulary development. Each program: • Teaches decoding through analogy approach of comparing new to known words, teaches key word spelling patterns for word identification, and emphasizes student discovery of how language works.
Other National Phonics-Based Reading Programs: • Stimulates phonetic awareness and self-correcting in reading, spelling, and speech, develops symbol imagery for sight words and spelling, and stimulates visualizing and verbalizing to improve language comprehension, critical thinking, and expressive language skills.
